A tattoo is a puncture wound to the deep layers of the skin that is at the cells of the dermis, introducing colored pigments to it. The reason the tattoos last for so long is that they are deep: the ink is not injected into the epidermis (the top layer of skin that we continue to produce and change throughout our life). On the contrary, it is injected into the dermis, which is the second deepest layer of skin. The cells of the dermis are very stable, so the tattoo is practically permanent.

One of the things that seemed for an eternity until recently was having a tattoo. Many of those who because of fashion, or esthetic reasons or curiosity decided to mark their bodies with messages or drawings with the famous "permanent makeup", are currently in the search of the best alternative for their removal.

Among the previously removal techniques used there were the dermabrasion, the cryosurgery and other techniques, but often left scars or depigmented areas.

This equipment uses the explosion effect of the laser, which can go thru the cuticle in an efficient manner until the pigmented mass of the dermis. The laser pulsates at a range of nanoseconds with high energy. When the laser is absorbed by indicated pigments, the pigment mass quickly expands and breaks into particles which are eliminated through the phagocyte cells. The destroyed pigment is absorbed by the body and expelled. Gradually the pigment lightens more and more until it disappears.
 
It's indicated in pathological skin pigmentation such as blue, black, red, brown or a mixture of lines at the eyebrows, line eyelid tattoos and freckles.
