BREAST REDUCTION

Even if large breasts are a modern trend that has lasted for years, women suffering from breast hypertrophy (with larger breasts than normal), they are not satisfied with their appearance. In these patients it is common to find back problems and insecurity at the time of finding a dress, because they fear using lower necklines and the use of garments such as bathing suits and bikini.

The mastoplasty reduction is the choice for these patients; this is also a frequent surgery.
This procedure can be performed in patients over fifteen years of age when the breasts have reached their maximum development. The surgery is simple and has duration of approximately two hours. Among the most used techniques there is the one that is known as the "inverted T", created by the Brazilian surgeon Ivo Pitanguy. It is carried out by slicing around the areola of the breast, a second cut in the groove of the breast under the breast, and a third cut joining the first two. The result is a scar in the form of an inverted "T". Other techniques leave scars in the shape of an "L" and an "I", but in any case it will take special care not to leave useless scars. After some time the scars faint and turn almost into an imperceptible line.

The stay at the clinic for this surgery is between 8 and 12 hours. Care must be taken, starting with a local dressing during the first 24 hours after surgery, it should also be used a special type of support bra, during the following 2 months during day and night. The next day, you can take a soft bath, five days after you can work on your computer and eight days after you can leave your home and take a walk. Exercise can only resume after a month, time in which you may see at a mirror and notice the change.

The final results of this surgery can only be appreciated when it has been more than six months of recovery.

For the first thirty days, the breasts have a new form; the planned result will not be achieved. Between the first and sixth month, the breasts undertake an evolution to reach their final shape. In this period there may be numbness or hypersensitivity in the nipple, in addition to a greater or lesser degree of swelling. After twelve months the breasts achieve their final appearance (shape, consistency, sensitivity and volume), time in which to compare the treatment photographs, the initial ones with the final ones.

In general the post-operative is not painful while following the surgeons indications, especially the ones related to movements of the arms, efforts and activities of the early days.
