Surgery of male genital or Faloplasty, includes both the thickening and lengthening of the penis.
First we must make clear that such advertising that offers a man that his penis will be extended from 7 to 10cms and thickened between 4 and 8 times its in diameter is totally misleading and creates false expectations in the patient, which subsequently can lead to misunderstandings that will damage the physician-patient relationship.

Which are the actual the possibilities for a patient to achieve lengthening and thickening of their penis?

Well, in terms of elongation, the surgery is done by partly dislodging the suspensory ligament of the penis, allowing in real terms an extension of up to 3 cm during rest. Offering more than this is to create illusions in the patient. The results in terms of increase in length are best observed after the third month of the intervention.

Regarding the thickening, the technique involves the infiltration of fat under the skin and the darthos which is a structure that is intimately linked to the skin covering the penis. The result is immediate. Some undocumented people say that fat will be reabsorbed, which is partially true because when placing greater quantities of that fat, unless it is near to fully irrigated areas, the fat cell will atrophy.  But if placed in appropriate quantities, it will last like any other fat graft placed anywhere else in the body and in which is well nourished by blood. Regarding the latter, there are numerous scientific studies that show successful treatments with the body’s own fat. In Romberg's disease in which there is an atrophy of half of the face, these results have been maintained over the years and the reason for this success is that the fat has been placed in an appropriate way to achieve the desired result.

What is the Faloplasty?

By faloplasty we mean the different procedures that can be made during the functional and / or cosmetics reconstruction of the male sexual organ, being the most frequent the lengthening in size and the circumferential thickening.

How is the organ elongation done?

By releasing the suspensory ligament of the penis through an incision at the top of the base of the organ, we obtain a greater forward projection of the corpora cavernosa. We must note that the increase obtained is at most 2 to 3 cm. from its original size and that not all patients are eligible for this type of procedure.

How is the thickening of the organ done?

Using a fine cannulae, multiple tunnels are done throughout the member, or sometimes only at the base, in order to introduce pre-selected filling materials.
There are several types of fillings to thicken the penis, being the autologous fat (same patient) our most frequent choice.

Under what kind of anesthesia can these procedures be performed?

Being a simple procedure in terms of its implementation, we prefer assisted local anesthesia, under mild sedation.
In special cases it is done under general or regional anesthesia.

How is the post-operative?

Being a noble structure, the penis has a particular susceptibility to edema and paused scarring.
A gauze dressing is left and can be withdrawn 24 hours after the procedure.
Common anti-inflammatory and analgesics are required during 5 days.

How long can the patient return to normal activities?

We guide our patients to maintain moderate rest of the first 2 days post surgery, returning to academic or work activities immediately after.
